The Hummingbird is an interesting new world bird. They are fast and agile, flapping their wings at a rate of 50 times per second. This makes them audible to humans, like low frequency radio. This allows them also fly at speeds of 30-40 MPH. The fecal microbiome is most interesting because Hummingbirds have the highest metabolism of any homeothermic animal. To conserve energy when food is scarce, they go into torpor, a state similar to hibernation, slowing metabolic rate to 1/15th of its normal rate.
